WELCOME TO THE
ABOUT US PAGE This page is to get you
aquainted with us! We are a typical family, living a simple life, trying to raise our children in the country.
Our dogs provide us a cottage industry, allowing all of us to stay home to raise the children. Feel free to visit our personal blog at www.homesteadblogger.com/thesilverpaw

We are a family of 5, living
in the great Northwest. After living in California all our lives, we took a big step, moved away from family and friends,
in search of a simpler, quieter life. We find ourselves surrounded with the spectacular beauties of nature, and we are
loving every moment of it.

Our first attempt at gardening
on a large scale. We're enjoying home grown lettuce, tomatos, potatoes, peas, carrots, beets, spinach, zucchini, strawberries
and raspberries so far. Still to come are broccoli, cabbage, eggplant, corn, pumpkins, chives, onions, garlic, and beans.

This
is our home in the quiet wooded hills. It's simple, which is what we were looking for! It's breezy in the summer,
and very cozy in the winter!

This is Princess, our yard
dog. She is spayed and completely rules the roost. She does whatever she wants to, and all affection is done on
her time table. We always tell people she's not our dog, but we're her people! We love her! ETA: I decided this year (2009) that as dog people, she should not be
in charge. I have now taught her to sit, and allow me to handle her feet and mouth/teeth. I can tell she doesn't
really like it, but she submits and lets me have my way with her. Now, that is how it should be!!
|
She came to us in California
and was sitting on our doorstep when we came home from vacation. She adopted us and soon got a dish of food and a collar.
We think she is a Sharpei, or a Sharpei mix of some kind. We call her "Snoot"!

We survived our first REAL
winter with snow. It lasted until APRIL!!! We did pretty well keeping our vehicle on the road, walking down our
icy porch and steps, and keeping all the dogs warm enough.
|
This is the view from above
our house. We were only "stuck" at home one time when this entire road was solid ice. It looked like
an ice skating rink on the slant. We decided we were too "green" to attempt our icy hill on that day!!
|
The kids had a blast playing
in the snow. I had to pinch myself everytime they were outside the back door, snowboarding down our sloped yard, for
FREE! They spent hours ouside trudging up and down the hillside. What incredible exercise...this is why we moved
here. No more couch potatoes in front of the T.V.!!
